We are just a couple of island girls who love to cook and entertain our family and friends.

Both of us are second-generation island residents…each of our families having lived on the lake for decades.

Though we both own a library of cookbooks, we each went in search of Winnipesaukee-related recipes-- with no luck. We then realized there was a niche to be filled.

We were very interested in knowing how other islanders entertained but were unable to find anything in print. This is how Winnipesaukee Cuisine came to be.

It takes a special type of person to enjoy living on an island. Island ingenuity means being resourceful -- you learn to live with what you have – whether creating a recipe or making repairs.

Many of our island recipes have evolved from pantry items on hand. This results in some creative dishes. We also realized that so many of our favorite island recipes had a good story or two attached to them…we thought it would be fun to share our stories and those of other islanders.

Our enthusiasm has been renewed by the responses we have received so far in the collection process. We’re enjoying our visits with old and new island neighbors—who also have many good recipes and stories to share.

We are anxious to create and publish this unique and timeless keepsake of recipes for island entertaining, seasoned with tales and trivia of Lake Winnipesaukee.

Become part of this project. Send us your recipes, stories and ideas on what makes island living special for you.
